Darin, a local behavioural optometrist, had no idea he was even selectedfor the award, because his three daughters chose to put his name forward without letting hin know!

Why a Sunshine Coast Optometrist Wins the Award?
The “Father whatever the Year” award is often offered to fathers who haven't only raised their children though have given to the community within the tangible way. Darin’s work as a Sunshine Coast Optometrist where he has a particular emphasis situated on the visual needs of children struggling in school has drawn many plaudits. He works tirelessly for being behavioural optometrist to allow children to achieve their full potential at school.
However, there's more to Darin’s community service than his Sunshine Coast Optometrist practice. Darin brilliant wife of 34 years Fiona have always opened their house and also their lives to those in need. For many years they fostered several girls, a lot of whom were the most challenging girls within the foster system. They welcomed into their own home girls over the streets and from institutions, and gave them a loving, stable family environment for the first time of their lives.
Then, after seeing these girls age out from the foster system, Darin and Fiona started the charity Lily house, designed in terms of a home for young girls in trouble. This isn't simply accommodation, though a live-in training situation that provides for the girl’s physical needs, and also trains them to become great mothers, and productive constituents of society. Lily House continues helping these disadvantaged girls to this day.
In addition to his optometry practice and community work at Lily House, Darin is also one of the pastor of a fast-growing local church, Ignite Christian Church at Woombye. And he tells us he isn't finished yet!
Ignite is a great way to pursue to reach extended to the community inside a tangible and practical way, with programs starting to look after the disadvantagedand disenfranchised local peoplewithin the hinterland.
Darin believes that, “You wanna make a living room by whatever you earn, but you commit a life by what you give, and my entire life is designed to give and show God’s like to all those who need it.”
So congratulations to Sunshine Coast Optometrist Darin Browne since he become the regional “Father of the Year.”
